Pretty much every family member I've ever lost, I lost to cancer, so I'm getting kind of pissed off at it. Unfourtuantely, Grid.org shut down out of nowhere. That's where I've been donating my computing time to cancer research. Looking around, there's not really any other distributed computing sites doing cancer research right now, which is to bad. Apparently seaching for aliens and chess strategies is more important than helping people survive one of the nastiest things going. Anyways, As it stands, I'm donating time to the protein folding and genome mapping projects over at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/. Supposedly, they will be starting a phase II cancer research project here in a few months. I'll play with protein until then I suppose!

Fun at work! Yay!
http://www.vindy.com/content/local_regional/288567753810358.php
Honestly, we Never had this kind of fun (the kind that comes with 50 or so police, SWAT, US Marshall and FBI agents armed with assault rifles) at the ol' Blue box back in the day. Between this, the exploding mains transformers, and all the other fun this year, I should be getting hazard pay at work. The article says it took him 70 seconds to walk out, which is after the 15 or 20 minutes he held 4 CCA employees and 2 nurses hostage. On top of that, we had a floor to floor, room to room search (gotta be on the safe side, ya know) that lasted until around 2PM, when he was confirmed to be elsewhere. Yay Youngstown!
