Stock up on canned goods! The end is near!

no, seriously! it's the endtimes, before you know it there will be snowball fights in hell, flying bacon everywhere, cats and dogs will be living together! how do I know? look at the 2 weeks if news headlines:

Apple computers announces it's switching to Intel processors!

Roger Waters reunites with Pink Floyd!

my mother booked a vacation ONLINE!

and now, after doing nothing but badmouthing the iPod, Michael Dell (Hell, er Dell Computers) has stated that if Steve gives him the chance, he'd LOVE to offer MacOS X on Dell boxes 0_o WTF!

If you need me, I'll be in the bomb shelter awaiting the end.

So I figured it's time I update a bit :)

My first rant is about everyone's favorite software company. Microsoft. All I have to say is WTF! By now most people have heard something about microsoft's next big operating system, the much touted replacement for Windows XP, codenamed "longhorn". Longhorn was initially due out sometime in the winter of 04, then it was this year, then it got pushed back to 06 (07 for server edition). Why all the delays? well, that's what happens when you talk smack about how you'll have all these awesome features without knowing how to actually create them.

What do I mean by that? well, all the things that were supposed to make longhorn the next, greatest, best OS from MS.....got cut. The WinFS file system (needed....desperately needed to drag the aging NTFS standard up to the level of some of the newer FS) was the first to go, then Avalon, Indigo, and now the new Monad command line system (all features by the way designed to help microsoft compete with features already in Mac OS, Linux and Unix OS's)

At this point, Longhorn might as well be a service pack for Windows XP! I mean, do they actually expect people to shell out $200 or $300 for something that's primary features are more shoddy MS security "features" and even more restrictive DRM? please.

SigX! The fresh maker.
