I hate to be the one to rain on the W. loving republican Pre-election (nov. 7th) PR Campaign of fear, but not all Americans are buying into your "We foiled the terrorists, re-elect us!" garbage.

First, let me get a few things straight. I do not believe that various government agencies are plotting attacks, just so they can claim they foiled themselves. That would be redundant, and a waste, when innocent people are cheap and plentiful. I do not believe that News organizations (aside from FOX news) are in the pockets of the politicians. I think they just have to much space on those 24hr news channels to fill up, so they will drag every little scrap of a factoid out into a 3 hour opinionfest, complete with experts via satellite. I do believe that is it in the best interest of pro-war, predominately republican canidates everywhere to get Iraq, Afghanistan, Dead US troops, and the recently deemed illegal NSA wiretaps off the news and out of the limelight for a while. How can you do that? easy. Feed the media anti-terror "Victories". Show them that all these unpopular things we bitch about are "working" to keep everyone safe! They will, of course, gobble it up, and spew it in minute by minute breaking news updates to the American public. Proof? You want proof?

Lets walk through the last week or so, shall we?

Last week we got news that our Iraq war Allies, the British, foiled a dastardly terrorist plot aimed at the US, reminiscent of 9/11! Thank goodness! If you were living under a rock, a number of British citizens, of Arabic descent, were arrested for plotting to board US bound planes, carrying liquid explosives... this created widespread panic, forcing airlines to ban all liquids, and small electronics from flights. When Google reported this, it had indexed THOUSANDS of articles from news agencies reporting this averted terrorist act. A week later, how many are reporting on the facts that have arisen? Not all that many. Here is a concise report: GU.UK oh, and those "liquid explosives" Kinda hard for a bunch of kids with no passports, no plane tickets, and likely no more knowledge than me in making explosives to do what the media and their handlers would spin you to believe.

Here in the U.S., more foiled terror plots! Since mobile phones are used to detonate terror-bombs, we should all thank our saviors at WalMart, who turned in two would be terrorists for buying an assload of tracphones! They must have been terrorists, hundreds of news sources said so! Who would believe their cover story "we're buying them to resell them for a profit..." Sounds like Security forces triumphed again! Oh, wait, they were telling the truth? To bad that wasn't covered nearly as extensively as their arrest and accusation.

So what about the 59yr old woman forcibly restrained on the plane headed to London? Almost every single one of the news outlets gleefully reported the detention of a possible terrorist. Who's now reporting the truth? A crazy old lady with obvious mental issues does not a foiled terror plot make.

And the Airline baggage terminal evacuated because of the suitcase bombs uncovered by agents and bomb-dogs? Damn, our foiling is foiled again. Google indexed almost 600 stories about this incident when it broke, and less than 1/3 of that when it was discovered to be a suitcase full of rags. I'm starting to wonder if maybe diffusing the publics tensions isn't in the agenda.

well come on, there HAS to be a terrorist in here somewhere, otherwise the public might notice we've been very naughty republicans. Here we go! This lady from Virginia MUST be a terrorist! The bomb dogs AND swab tests confirmed explosives in her bottles of liquid! This story was EVERYWHERE this afternoon. I had to really dig to find an update as to what became of the "explosive bottles".

So there you have it, the "Week in Review". 5 items, all reported as "terrorist" by just about every news outlet, sucking up broadcast time, blotting out real concerns, scaring an oblivious public, all the while relegating the very un-exciting resolutions to these problems to a small blurb, before moving on to the next big story. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! It's the wizard you should be watching.
